Graham was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and studied Architecture and then Building Surveying at Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian Universities from 1989 – 1996. In 1996 he started work in an Architects’ office designing new flats and commercial properties, until one afternoon in December 1999 when he bought a copy of White Dwarf and saw an advertisement for a writer. The following February, Graham started work for Games Workshop with Games Development as a Staff Writer, writing articles for White Dwarf and Army Books. In May 2000 he started writing for the Warhammer 40,000 team but also kept up writing articles for White Dwarf. Graham has been heavily involved working on codexes, especially the Tau codex between late 2000 – June 2001. Other codexes he has been involved with are Necrons, Chaos Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Demonhunters and Witch Hunters,which was his first project undertaken after making a move from Staff Writer to fully-fledged Games Developer. His latest project was the new Space Marines Codex. Graham is an avid writer and has had several novels published by The Black Library. They are `Nightbringer’ published in January 2002, `Storm of Iron’ in July 2002, `Warriors of Ultramar’ in Feb 2003 and `Dead Sky Black Sun´. He is currently working his fourth novel, a Warhammer novel, called the `The Ambassador´. The Black Library is a division of Games Workshop devoted to publishing novels, art books, background books and graphic novels set in the Warhammer Fantasy world and the Warhammer 40,000 universe. ...


Graham plays both 40k And Warhammer. He collects and games with Tau and Necron armies in 40k and an Empire army in Warhammer.

McNeill went on to write further articles and book chapters on the subject of Vietnam, his skill in writing battle pieces is most evident in his chapter on the battle of Long Tan in To Long Tan, now recognised as a model of the genre.

When he was 17, McNeill entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon and, showing early signs of his later vocation as a writer, topped his class in English over each of his three years there.
McNeill graduated in 1954 and the following year was posted as a rifle platoon commander to the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) then serving in Korea.
McNeill had come to believe that the government was following a flawed strategy and that Australian soldiers were dying needlessly in Vietnam while the government prevaricated about bringing them home.
