Grand County is a county located in the U.S. state of Utah. As of 2000 the population was 8,485, and by 2005 had been estimated at 8,743. It was named for the Colorado River, which at the time was known as the Grande River. Its county seat and largest city is Moab6. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 9,568 km² (3,694 sq mi). 9,535 km² (3,682 sq mi) of it is land and 32 km² (13 sq mi) of it (0.34%) is water. The Green River forms the western boundary and Colorado lies on the eastern boundary. The Colorado River flows through the southeast corner.
