Grant Road (Marathi:ग्रँट रोड), named after Sir Robert Grant, who was the Governor of Bombay between 1835 and 1839, is a railway station on the Western Line of the Mumbai suburban railway. Grant Rd station is the most centrally located arterial station in South Mumbai and easily connects to all prominent place such as Gaumdevi,Girgaum Chowpatty,Babulnath,Malabar Hill,Peddar Road,Nepean Sea Rd via Nana Chowk on the West, to Duncan Rd, Dongri, Bhyculla(Central Railway)via Maulana Shaukatali Road and to Khetwadi,Gol Deol, C P Tank, Mumbadevi, Mandvi, Bhuleshwar, via Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road. Originally the station was terminus before independence. Unfortunately space is wasted now by having a parcel depot. A few trains like Balsad fast passenger or flying raanee can use this terminal. the suburban station was opened for operation by W.R again in 1968. Grant road(west) also consists of a famous area called Nana chowk which consists of many localities from station to Diana bridge they are CHIKAL WADI[navi & juni] ramji chawl,bhaji gully(a vegetable market actually)sonawala building etc.

Grant Road (East) is also home to Mumbai's electronics and computer hardware wholesale and retail market along Lamington Road.You will find here cinema theatres like NOVELTY,APSARA,MINERVA There is a market called LOKMANYA TILAK MARKET .Many big showrooms of shoes like,METRO,LORDS,CITYWALKetc. & cloth designing showrooms,like SHEETAL are present along the market street Lamington Road is a place very close to the Grant Road station in Mumbai. ...


Famous places accessible from the West are Mani Bhavan off Gowalia Tank, Banganga,Babulnath Temple, Priyadarshani Park, American and Russian Embassys,The Royal Opera house, Girgaum Chowpatty,SRISRI Radhagopinath temple,bhartiya vidya bhavan, Bhavan's college& Wilson College. yay!!!


Famous places accessible from the East are Gol Deol off Duncan Road,Chor Bazaar on Mutton Street,H.N.hospital,prarthna samaj,badr baug there's been a developement in this area in these days ,Huge towers like,Padmavati heights,hilla heights have been built .Smal housng. societies like,KAMAR building housing soc.,Nagusayajichi chawletc.are also coming up
