Education

The city is home to Spalding Catholic High School. It is known for its successful baseball program, the Spartans have won state championships in 1971, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1989, 2000, and 2001. They have also qualified for the state tournament in five of the last eight years. Their rival is Remsen St. Mary's, a school located 15 miles south, that went to the state baseball tournament this season and went on in route to being state runner-ups.
