According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 95.2 km² (36.7 mi²). 90.0 km² (34.7 mi²) of it is land and 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it (5.50%) is water. The racial makeup of the township was 95.92% White, 1.58% African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. Development

In 2004, Costco and Kohl's built stores off the Lee Road exit of US 23 in the northwest part of the township, just southeast of Brighton. In October 2006, a new mall, Green Oak Village Place, opened on the east side of US 23 at exit 58. [3] With the mall opening the exit at U.S. 23 traffic had to be reconfigured. Two roundabouts were added at the exit to maintain traffic flow. Of the Roundabouts is a Double-Roundabout which is the only one of it's kind in North America.
