The official date of registration was April 6th, 1990. The party was now firmly established even when Green politics, and environmental awareness seemed to be at an all time low. The 2004 Canadian federal election started with a full slate of candidates and ended with the least successful Green candidate in 2004 getting a greater percentage of the vote than the most successful candidate in 2000. Mark MacGillivray, candidate in Calgary North Centre obtained an impressive 11.2% of the vote. Candidates never did worse than fourth place, and displaced the NDP from third place in a few ridings.
