Greenwood is a city in and one of the two county seats of Sebastian County, Arkansas, United States, perhaps best known locally for its Arkansas high school football dominance of the past few years. Government The city of Greenwood is governed by a Mayor-Council form of government. The Mayor Kenneth Edwards Jr. and six elected alderman (Lance Terry, Tim Terry, Terral Meeker, Jim Newcomb, Jim Gossett, and Rod Powell) make up the Greenwood City Council. The city clerk, Wilma Cabe and the City Attorney, Mike Hamby also sit with the council during city business. Greenwood also has a full time Police Department, led by Police Chief Keith Jackson who has a staff of 21 full time officers. Greenwood residents passed a 3/4 cent sales tax during the 2006 general election to fund a expanding Fire Department as well as a full time Parks and Recreation Department. The city has a staff of 52 full time employees and an annual operating budget of just over 12 million dollars.
