From Emerald, the Gregoryhighway continues north, passing through rich grain, cattle farming regions and nearby to several large coalmines, through the small town of Capella before reaching Clermont.
The highway continues north for 10km where it intersects with the Peak Downs Highway, marking the start of the Gregory Developmental Road, which continues through vast, remote cattle farming districts to reach the Belyando Crossing roadhouse and eventually the Flinders Highway, just south-west of Charters Towers.
