The Gregory Highway is a north-south highway that links several towns in the central highlands region of Queensland and forms part of the inland route connecting Townsville and Mackay with New South Wales.
From Emerald, the Gregory highway continues north, passing through rich grain, cattle farming regions and nearby to several large coalmines, through the small town of Capella before reaching Clermont.
The highway continues north for 10km where it intersects with the Peak Downs Highway, marking the start of the Gregory Developmental Road, which continues through vast, remote cattle farming districts to reach the Belyando Crossing roadhouse and eventually the Flinders Highway, just south-west of Charters Towers.
