Griffin is a town located in Posey County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 160.

Geography

Griffin is located at 38°12'16" North, 87°54'54" West (38.204406, -87.915033)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 160 people, 73 households, and 42 families residing in the town. The population density is 882.5/km² (2,363.3/mi²). There are 81 housing units at an average density of 446.8/km² (1,196.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 99.38% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 73 households out of which 17.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% are married couples living together, 5.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.1% are non-families. 34.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 26.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.19 and the average family size is 2.84.

In the town the population is spread out with 19.4% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 18.8% from 25 to 44, 33.1% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
