Grigory Landsberg graduated from Moscow University in 1913. His primary scientific contribution was in the fields of optics and spectroscopy. He was a co-discoverer of inelastic scattering of light used in Raman spectroscopy. Moscow State University M.V.  LANDSBERG Grigory Samuilovich [10 (22) .1. 1890, Vologda, February 2, 1957, Moscow], the Soviet physicist and academician of the USSR (1946; Inst. 1932). 

In 1913, and graduated from Moscow Anthony ibid. taught in 1913-1915, 1923-45, 1947-51 (with Professor 1923). In 1951-57 Professor of the Moscow Institute of Physics. Since 1934 he worked in the Physical in-te USSR. Major works on optics and spectroscopy. In 1926 the first time and highlighted studied Molecular scattering of light in crystals. In 1928, together with Mandelstam LI opened phenomenon combination of light (in conjunction with C. Romano and Krishnanom KS), spotted a thin line isotropic structure, and in 1931-the phenomenon of selective scattering of light.
