The stadium hold 31,500 people and the Wake Forest faithful have filled it many times, including games in 2006. The stadium is 1.5 hours from Charlotte, NC drawing many alumni and fans from the Piedmont region of NC and the heart of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The largest crowd ever in attendance at Groves Stadium was 37,623 set November 7, 2004 vs. UNC where additional bleachers were brought in to cover the Bridger Field House end-zone and flank both sides of Deacon Hill. Many times, "capacity plus" attendance has been reached; most recently vs. Virginia Tech on November 18, 2006 (official number for the Virginia Tech game is 36,723 - also to be noted that many counterfit tickets were used for this game therefore leaving the official count undetermined.)
