NEW YORK -- GrupoCarso, the Mexico City-based conglomerate, plans to test its Sanborn specialty stores in the U.S. this year, as it attempts to build traffic in its newly acquired Sears de Mexico chain.
GrupoCarso fell 60 centavos, or 1 percent, to 58.9 pesos.
As well as GrupoCarso, Inbursa, America Movil and Telmex, which are all based in Mexico City, Slim controls internet, retail, mining, cigarette, construction materials, food, copper cable and auto parts companies.
GrupoCarso's construction unit is building five oil platforms for state oil monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos SA, a water- treatment plant in the northern city of Saltillo as well as the Ideal highway.
