Guararema is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population in 2003 is 23,119, its density is 85.31/km² and the area is 271 km² This place name comes from the Tupi language. It is a suburb of São Paulo.
Guararema can be considered as a division line between the excitement of the big cities and the inland way of living: living with no hurry.
Guararema development took place after the fall of coffee production, when people started looking for other kinds of subsistence like cattle raising, agriculture and tourism.
Although it is close to São Paulo city, Guararema chose to continue being a quiet, cozy, small city that receives its guests with lots of peace and quietness.
