Gunnar Halle (born August 11, 1965) is a former footballer from Norway. A right back, he played for many years professionally in England and at the Norwegian national team. In total he was capped 64 times and scored 5 goals, and was included in the squads for the 1994 World Cup and 1998 World Cup. Halle started his Norwegian Premier League career in Lillestrøm in 1985 when he joined from Larvik Turn. He quickly became a team regular, and helped win the league titles in 1986 og 1989. In the spring of 1991 he was sold to Oldham Athletic in England, where he played nearly 200 matches. Halle joined Leeds United in the fall of 1996, and three seasons later he moved to Bradford City where he stayed another three seasons. A brief spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers concluded his stay in England. He returned to Noway and Lillestrøm in the summer of 2002. A versatile player who has played at just about every position at the back (and as a midfielder), Halle was being lined up to join Leeds before Wilko was fired and became George Graham's first signing (and not a bung in sight!).
Halle can be an infuriating player to watch - in the space of five minutes he will make a great tackle, clear the ball off the line....and then slip and let somebody in or pass the ball to an opposition player in the area.
Gunnar spoke about how he had a great time at Oldham and Leeds, He mentioned a game at Highbury where Leeds won 1-0 (?) possibly a cup match, i think he mentioned.
