Guo Huai was a minor Wei general who served under Cao Cao. He later rose up through the ranks during Cao Pi's reign. He eventually became a top commander while serving Sima Yi. He made many contributions to the Wei Kingdom. While pursuing a retreating Jiang Wei, he was shot by an arrow and died. When Zhuge Liang attacked the Kingdom of Wei, GuoHuai was appointed as Deputy Commander of the Wei forces under Cao Zhen, and accurately predicted the movements of the Shu army, and scored many important victories (1).
Together with Cao Zhen, GuoHuai drove back Zhao Yun and recovered the territories of Nanan, Tian Shui and Anding, which were previously lost during the attack by Shu.
