King Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden, Oskar Fredrik Wilhelm Olaf Gustav Adolf (November 11, 1882 - September 15, 1973), was the eldest son of King Gustav V. At birth he was created Duke of Scania. On October 29, 1950, he succeeded his father on the throne.
He married, secondly, Lady Louise Mountbatten, on November 3, 1923, however the marriage did not result in any children. He was succeeded on the throne by his grandson Carl XVI Gustaf, son of the Duke of Westrobothnia.
GustafAdolf, GustafAdolf Oscar Fredrik Arthur Edmund (April 22, 1906–January 26, 1947), Prince of Sweden, Duke of Västerbotten, was the eldest son of GustafVIAdolf of Sweden and his first wife Princess Margaret of Connaught.
Princess Sibylla was a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, a granddaughter of HRH Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany.
Prince GustafAdolf was killed in a plane crash on the afternoon of January 26, 1947 at Kastrup, Denmark.
GustafAdolf's expertise and interest in a wide range of fields (architecture and botany being but two) made him respected, as did his informal and modest nature and his purposeful avoidance of pomp.
GustafVIAdolf was a devoted archaeologist, and was admitted to the British Academy for his work in botany in 1958.
King GustafVIAdolf of Sweden was the grandfather of both Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and his direct successor, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
