Härnösand is a Municipality in Västernorrland County, northern Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 1064.7 km². Of the total population of 25493, 12411 are male, and 13082 are female. The population density of the community is 24 inhabitants per km². Härnösand is probably most known to the uninitiated for its history as a big and important harbortown and it's beautiful locations. Härnösand is a fairly small town and some of the activities young people engage in are Kåken (Ungdomens Hus), a youth centre provided by the local municipals. The city also has an extensive selection of outdoor activities in the summer and wintertime. Wintertime people can go skiing (cross country and downhill), iceskating, etc. Summertime activities include climbing, kayaking, treking, etc. The town also features a summertime beach Smitingen, which occasionally gets some surfable waves.
