Criticisms

• The HP Pavilion Notebooks have been known to emit an annoying high-pitched whine, caused by the CPU alternating between low-power and high-power states. [1]
• Some models of Pavilion laptop have been criticized as having faulty power jacks, which separate from the motherboard under normal use^[3][4].
• Some models have ongoing problems with wireless connectivity ^[5][6]
• Also some models have problems with the lid switch (a.k.a. the switch that makes screen power off when you close the screen folder)
• Some notebooks have problems with the integrated webcam. Many users had to reinstall it using the Acer webcam drivers. Others faced problems with the webcam when starting up Windows Vista with a USB hub connected.
• Recently the dv9000 series notebooks have a Hinge problem, where the left side of the screen will snap off when opening. some say this is due to a design flaw, but has yet to be publicly addressed. a website has been created for this problem, it is called http://www.notebookhingecrack.com/
• In the dv1000 series, over time, the screen hinges become very flimsy and the screen flops around. The cooling fan for this series has also become a nuisance. And after the laptop has been operating for around 45 minutes, the bottom of the computer gets very hot.
• The tx1000 and tx2000 suffer from cooling problems, especially when in tablet mode, and may cause discomfort or minor burns.
• Within a year of usage the battery backup of HP Pavilion dv9000 got reduced to 40 minutes only
