Biography
Hank Scorpio is an evil genius and owner of Globex Corporation, appearing in the episode "You Only Move Twice"[1], a parody of the James Bond film You Only Live Twice. His company offered Homer Simpson an ideal job and a new home for his family in the planned community of Cypress Creek. Scorpio, despite being an evil genius, proved to be an ideal boss, welcoming the Simpson family with a large gift basket and a friendly greeting. He showed Homer around his company building, telling Homer that Globex doesn't believe in walls. Scorpio eventually praises Homer for his hard work and great ideas such as hammocks for the workers. Scorpio claims he was the first rich man to wear jeans and a sport coat and shows himself to be a caring boss who is always willing to help out and only gets angry if somebody eats half of his lunch. However, being an evil genius is still his priority, and over the episode he delivers a video threat to the United Nations, and tries to kill a Mr. "Bont" who escapes but is tackled by Homer before being rapidly executed in turn by Scorpio's henchmen. Eventually the government catches up with him and invades the Globex building just as Scorpio is trying to use his doomsday device. Homer shows up and tells Scorpio that his family wants to go back to Springfield. Scorpio, after responding with, "Let 'em go, you'll stay here with me, we'll go bowling!", advises Homer to do what's best for his family. Scorpio puts on a flamethrower and makes his escape past the invading military forces. The foundation of the U.N. Later references Neither Scorpio's control of the U.S. East Coast or Homer's ownership of the Denver Broncos has been referred to again in the series. However, in Simpsons Comics #117 (which features Scorpio), there's a flashback scene showing Homer giving the Broncos to Moe to cover his bar tab before they win the Super Bowl. However, the comics aren't always considered canonical. In "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday", Homer says he wants the Broncos to beat the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl, implying he still owns them, or at least still supports them. However, the animators chose to cover the mouths of the characters (by Homer holding a mug of beer to his face, for instance) as they mentioned the team names, essentially as an animation trick so that whatever teams do make it to the Superbowl, the mouths of the characters are not out of synch. In the video game Simpsons: Hit & Run, there's a car that Bart can purchase from Kearney on the sixth level called the "Globex Super Villain Car". Since Scorpio owns the Globex corporation, it is presumably his car. Kearney also said that the former owner of the car conquered the eastern coast, the area Scorpio ruled over. Additionally, in the third and sixth levels, the ship the C-Spanker is owned by the Globex Company. Kearney and his friends may have stolen the car from there.
