Born in Naples in May 1913. Both parents were swiss, sons of Swiss manufacturers established in Naples . The mother Ginevra, daughter of Filippo Büchy of the Canton of Argovia, became italian, the father remained swiss and enrolled the son to the Swiss consulate of Naples , that made of Hans a Swiss citizen from birth at all the effects, second an agreement between the two Countries. Hans went to school in Naples until the age of 12 years, then he has been sent in Switzerland to end his studies, is in French Switzerland that in that German, becoming therefore multilingual. After a period of 8 years, in which he travelled for all Europe and Africa (Tripolitania and South Africa) and in which he has been engaged in its juvenile passion for the car races of Formula 1 where he also ran also for the Ferrari Team, in October 1938 he emigrated in the United States, in order to continue his literary career from he already begun to the time of the race. In fact in 1937 came out in Switzerland his first novel, written in german, right on the F1 car races. He after translated it in English and in 1953 Darryl Zanuck of the Twentieth Century Fox carried it on the screen with Kirk Douglas in the role of the protagonist. The title of the movie was The Racers. After the war he returned in Europe, disembarking in January of 1946 in Naples, destroyed from the American strafings, in the period where years later he'll write his novel I mammà e papà. This novel, originally written in English, then has been translated also in Italian. In the meantime, in 1950, it appeared in the United States his first bestseller, TOP OF THE WORLD; known in Italy as Paese dalle ombre lunghe , carried on the screen ten years later with the title White Shadows with Anthony Quinn. After published Paese dalle ombre lunghe , Partita di Caccia, Com'esser poveri, I mammà e papà e Ritorno alle ombre lunghe , all written at first in English and then translated in Italian from himself, he stopped to write novels in order to dedicate itself to the fight against the swindle of the vivisection, conducted under the pretest of the medical research. Having also already studied medicine for years and cured for a publishing house a medical necklace called "the handbook of the health", he is convinced, like many others, that vivisection is not other than a lucrative swindle, finalized to a continuous collection of funds for a presumed "medical research" that many doctors consider not only useless but even misleading. In fact the diseases still named as the main death causes -- cancer, diabetes, hearth problems -- are not disappeared, but they are increased from when it has been introduced vivisection like the only aid of the "medical research". These ideas, written in the book Naked Empress, the first book Hans Ruesch wrote since the beginning directly in Italian, creating scandal in Italy when it appeared in January 1976, marked also the end of the literary career of this author outside from the outlines. Then it started his pilgrimage from a court to the other in several countries, dragged there not openly from the druggist industry as someone logically assume, but from false friends. This is the subject of his successive book, entitled the Counterfeiters of the Justice, that he still hopes of being able to finish. In the meantime the Prentice Hall, the primary American house of didactic works, published in 2003 a new anthology, nearly 800 pages, destined to the university instruction and entitled From the past to the present: ideas that changed our world. Between the 73 authors of which wide extracts are cited figures also Hans Ruesch. In order which work? For that up to now it had been the more censured in all the 9 countries in which it arrived: Naked empress. His official website is www.hansruesch.net |
