Harp in the South is a book by Australian author Ruth Park. The book is based in Surry Hills, where the author herself lived. It was written in 1948, and portrays the life of a Catholic Irish family living in Surry Hills, which was at that time an inner city slum.


The book has enjoyed widespread international success up until the present, and is frequently used in Australia as a Higher School Certificate study text.
