According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 61.5 km² (23.8 mi²). 37.0 km² (14.3 mi²) of it is land and 24.5 km² (9.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 39.79% water. Harrison Township sits along Lake St.Clair in the southeast region of Michigan. This provides its identity of "Boat Town." Attractions

The location of the city is a very popular attraction for many people in surrounding areas. Metro Park is located on the shoreline of Harrison Township and Lake St.Clair. This attraction is both educational and recreational. The park has nature trails, learning centers, playgrounds, beaches, pools, and picnic areas. This park also has an area for boats to be docked. This is just one of several marinas in the area.

There is no official police department in the township. The city’s safety rests in the hands of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department. There is a police station for these officers located on Town Hall road. Although the township does not have its own police force, they do have a fire department. The fire station is located on Crocker, between Jefferson and Sixteen Mile Road.


Education

Harrison Township is home to the L'anse Creuse Public School District. This district is now "School of Choice" which allows students to move freely within the district. The district houses ten elementary schools, four middle schools, and two high schools. In addition to schools, the district also has a Vocational and Technical Center, Adult Education Center, Performing Arts Center, Professional Development Center, Special Services Building, and a Transportation and Maintenance Center. There are Five Blue Ribbon schools in the district and eight State Exemplary Schools. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program is a United States government program created to honor schools. ...
