Hartley Bay is a small aboriginal community on the Pacific Coast of British Columbia. The village is located at the mouth of Douglas Channel, about 630 kilometres (390 miles) north of Vancouver and 145 kilometers (90 miles) south of Prince Rupert. It is an isolated village accessible only by air and water with a population of a population of 600: 200 of which are band members living on reserve and 400 members living off reserve. The Gitk'a'ata are one of seven groups in the Tsimshian Tribal Council.
