Haveri is a city in Karnataka state of southern India. It is the administrative headquarters of Haveri District. The name Haveri has derived from Kannada words Havu+keri, that means Snake+place. Haveri is famous for the Cardamom garlands. As per saying Haveri had around 1000 matts( sacred religion place) in ancient days. One of the famous matt is Hukkeri Matt.Haveri is also famous for marketing Byadagi red chillies, which is well known all over India. Around 15 kilometers away, there is place called Kaginele birth place for poet Kanakadasa.
