KHPR, who signed on the air in Honolulu on November 13, 1981, serves as the flagship station, which consists of two separate programming networks, with KHPR airing a diversified lineup of fine arts, classical music and cultural programming, while KIPO (whose sign-on was in 1989) offers a News/Talk/Information format.
