History

Hazelmere is part of the Woodbridge land grant given to Captain James Stirling in 1829.[2] When a Guildford auctioneer bought the land in 1883, he subdivided the property into smaller lots, and one was named Hazelmere after the English suburb of Haslemere in Guildford, Surrey.[2] Admiral Sir James Stirling (January 28, 1791–April 23, 1865) was the first Governor of Western Australia (1828–38) and on his own initiative signed Britains first limited treaty with Japan in 1854. ...
