Hedensted municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 137 km², and has a total population of 16,877 (2005). Its mayor is Jørn Juhl Nielsen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. Denmark is divided into 13 counties (amter), and 271 municipalities (kommuner). ... By January 1, 2007 Hedensted municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), be merged with Juelsminde municipality and most of Tørring-Uldum municipality to form a new Hedensted municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 565 km² and a total population of 56,508 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region"). 2007 (MMVII) will be a common year starting on Monday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
