Encyclopedia > Helen Palmer Geisel

American actress and author best known as the wife of famous childrens book writer "Dr. Seuss" or Theodor Seuss Geisel. Her most well known book is "Do You Know What I'm Going to Do Next Saturday?" which was published in 1963. Theodor Seuss Geisel (March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991) was a famous American writer and cartoonist best known for his classic childrens books under the pen name Dr. Seuss, including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and One Fish Two Fish...


Born in 1899, she met Theodor Seuss Geisel at Oxford[1]. She had a profound influence on his life, including sugesting that he should be an artist rather than a professor[2]. They married in 1926 having no children together[3]. After battling illness, she committed suicide on October 23, 1967[4].
