Henderson is a major suburb of Waitakere City, in the Auckland metropolitan area in the North Island of New Zealand. As at 2003, it has a population of about 15,000. It is located 13 kilometres to the west of Auckland city centre, and two kilometres to the west of the Whau River, a southwestern arm of the Waitemata Harbour. The suburb is the centre of the Henderson ward, one of the four administrative divisions of Waitakere City.
