At :50 of round one, the fight was called to a stop after Herb Dean saw a break in Sylvia's right forearm from an armbar by Mir. Dean is heard on the broadcast stating, "you're arm's fuckin broken," as he pulled the two apart, but Sylvia protested, claiming his arm was perfectly fine and even moving it around with no problems. However, a post fight X Ray showed massive damage to Sylvia's arm which required surgery and a long recovery. Some claim that Gonzaga was in fact administering ground and pound and had just maneuvered his opponent against the cage for an additional advantage, but it didn't really matter because shortly after the stand up Gonzaga knocked out Crocop with a kick to the head.
