Most commercially sold extracts have a herb to alcohol ratio printed on the label. When dry herbs were used to make the extract the ratio is commonly 1 part alcohol to 4 parts dried herb. When fresh herbs are used the most common ratioo is 1:1. This does not indicate the amount of that herb in the bottle, rather the ratio used in making the extract. Example: Dry herb strength: 1:4 means that the mixture used to produce the extract was 4 parts dried herb and one part alcohol. This is not the same as an ingredients list which is also present on most commercial extracts. Created thousands of years ago by our herbal ancestors who originally crafted extracts by batching plant material with water, liquid herbalextracts have found an almost permanent place to call home within our cupboards.
Among the advantages of herbalextracts are their ability to preserve the active constituents and their long shelf life.
All of the herbalextracts we offer have been processed from fresh and/or quality dried plant material, and have been extracted with certified organic grain and grape alcohol.
HerbalExtracts are an herbal food, or combination of foods, diluted in liquids such as distilled water and ethanol, that may be used as a "natural medicine." Natural ethanol is an alcohol commonly distilled from grain and is also known as neutral alcohol.
Herbalextracts are herbal plant foods that have been diluted in a liquid that dissolves and or suspends them.
Extracts are intended to be used to supplement the diet with herbal foods in an easily absorbable form.
