Heroin is considered the first true hardcore emo band, coming out of San Diego around 1991. Their entire recorded discography totals under one hour, but their music's influence is unsurpassed in the genre. Heroin is described as chaotic and furious noise, vocal-cord-shredding screaming, lyrics of ultimate disillusionment and pain and just the right amount of melody to pull things together without interrupting the flow.
