Geography

Hewlett Neck is located at 40°37'23" North, 73°41'49" West (40.623170, -73.697011)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 km˛ (0.2 mi˛). 0.5 km˛ (0.2 mi˛) of it is land and 4.35% is water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 504 people, 155 households, and 139 families residing in the village. The population density is 926.6/km˛ (2,369.1/mi˛). There are 163 housing units at an average density of 299.7/km˛ (766.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 98.81% White, 0.79% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.99% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 155 households out of which 51.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 85.2% are married couples living together, 1.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.3% are non-families. 8.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.25 and the average family size is 3.39.


In the village the population is spread out with 33.1% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 21.8% from 25 to 44, 26.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.9 males.
