Highway Companion is the third solo album by American musician Tom Petty, first released in late July 2006 (see 2006 in music), and charting at #4 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album was produced by former Traveling Wilburys bandmate Jeff Lynne, who also produced Petty’s highly-acclaimed first solo album, Full Moon Fever. Petty released the album through Rick Rubin's American Recordings label and Warner Bros. Records, where Petty has had a record contract since his second solo album, Wildflowers (which was produced by Rubin). Special Edition An expanded Special Edition of "Highway Companion" is slated to be released on June 5, 2007 via the American Recordings/Warner Bros label. The expanded edition will include the original twelve tracks as they appeared on the original issue, but will also include demos of "This Old Town" and "Big Weekend". In addition the expanded special edition will include two unreleased songs recorded for the album in 2005, "Home" and "Around The Roses". These two tracks were mentioned in Tom Petty's 2005 biography "Conversations With Tom Petty" but did not appear on the original "Highway Companion" cd package. The leatherette board packaging will also include two postcards.
