Hillsdale is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 8,233. It is the county seat of Hillsdale County6, and is run as a council-manager government. On November 8, 2005, 18-year-old high school student Michael Sessions, was elected mayor as a write-in candidate, defeating 51-year old incumbent Doug Ingles, and is believed to be the youngest mayor in the United States. The racial makeup of the city was 96.53% White, 0.60% African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.83% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races.
