Encyclopedia > Homunculi of Fullmetal Alchemist

In the fictional world of the Fullmetal Alchemist series, Homunculi are artificial humans, created through alchemy. They serve as the principal villains in the series. There are seven Homunculi, each named after one of the seven deadly sins, although their characteristics and identities vary somewhat between the anime and manga series. The Three most well known Homunculi are Envy, who can shapeshift. Lust, who can extend her razor-like finger nails to kill her opponants. And Gluttony, who can eat just about anything. The Homunculi's one true goal is to become human. The one who organized all the Homunculi is a person named Dante. The leader of all of the State Alchemists, Fuheror Bradley, is a Homunculi as well. He is the only homunculi that is able to age like a normal human. He is the one responsible for the fall of Ishbal and all the other wars. The wars were only a cover-up for the real situation. Homunculi are created through a failed human transmutation. When the Homunculi and the series were created the alchemists were trying to bring a human back to life. When they attempt bringing the dead back to life the result is the homunculus. They have no true souls, though they have some of the memories of the human that was suppose to be brought back. They are born with an incomplete body. The body is usually mishapen and distorted until they eat the red stone, so they look more human. To kill a homunculus you have to put them on the correct transmutation cirlce and they must be near(or touching) the remains of the actual human that was suppose to be brought back to life. Then once the transmutation cirlce is activated the homunculi spit up all the red stones that they ate when they were first born, making them weak and able to be killed. Then they are no longer immortal and can be killed much easier.
