Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

The Horde first appeared in Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. It was then composed solely of Orcs and was referred to as the "Orcish Hordes". The Orcs were cursed by the blood of a demon of the Burning Legion named Mannoroth. The Horde, secretly led by the Shadow Council, threw away their shamanistic heritage, and became warlocks. Before they left their home world of Draenor, the Shadow Council was approached by Medivh, who at the time was being controlled by the leader of the Burning Legion-Sargeras. Medivh conjured the Dark Portal, allowing the Orcish Horde to invade Azeroth. Under Warchief Blackhand's official leadership, and the Shadow Council's secret leadership, the Horde was set loose upon Azeroth which lead to the First War. Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness

In Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, the Horde continued to be dominated by the brutal, demonic orcs, but it also recruited Goblins, the Ogres, and the Forest Trolls, led by Zul'Jin. They were defeated when the warlock Gul'dan, formerly of the Shadow Council, left for the Tomb of Sargeras with a large party of orcs, leaving the rest of the Horde outnumbered by the Alliance. The orcs that weren't killed or lost were captured and put into internment camps in Lordaeron. The Forest Trolls and ogres made no attempt to rescue their former allies. Feeling abandoned, the orcs no longer considered them a part of the Horde. Although a portion of this former Horde still exists today as the Dark Horde, it is hostile to both the Alliance and the modern Horde. It is led by the son of the first Warchief,Rend Blackhand. In World of Warcraft, the Horde have also formed a loose alliance with the Forsaken, a group of Undead who had broken free of the Lich King's control. Although mutual trust does not exist between these newcomers and the older Horde races, the magical power of the Forsaken has been a great aid to the Horde. Elsewhere, the Blood Elves, remnants of the High Elves of Quel'Thalas, had been cast out of the Alliance and seek passage to Outland. They joined the Horde after retaking their beloved Eversong Forest and their capital city of Silvermoon. The Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner vouched for their admission to the Horde as before she became a banshee, she was a ranger of the High Elves. The Blood Elves are now preparing for their journey to Outland, where they hope to find Prince Kael'thas with the help of their new-found allies. It is known that the Horde has an outpost on Outland. The Current Horde

Currently, the Horde has been striving to rebuild their society. The Orcs are rediscovering the sacred shaman rituals of their forefathers, learning more and passing knowledge down throughout the generations. The Darkspear trolls, exiled from their homeland, are struggling to find their place in the other lands of Kalimdor and Azeroth, using the combined Horde's vast resources to rebuild a civilization. The Tauren, also driven from their ancestral home, continue to lay down roots in their adopted home of Mulgore. The Tauren were also key in restoring shamanism to the Orcs. After breaking free from their bonds under the Lich King, the Forsaken turn to their new leader to guide them to a greater future. The undead's lust for magical power and alchemical knowledge keep them isolated in their sepulchral Undercity, where untold experiments of magic and alchemy take place. It is still to be seen how the Blood Elves, with their singular purpose, will fit into the complete Horde and if their added influence will strengthen their new united allies. Currently the Horde and the Alliance have forged a fragile peace in order to combat the Burning Legion effectively. If the Burning Legion is defeated, then it is highly likely the peace will be shattered, and hostilities between the Alliance and the Horde will be renewed. In such situation, the enmity that separates the two factions will reach a peak, and in future conflicts, no quarter will be asked, and none given.

Faction leaders in World of Warcraft

Warchief Thrall is the current overall leader of the Horde, as well as of the orcish race. However, each race comprising the Horde has its own leader. He is listed as a leader but there is is dispute over whether he counts or not. and Lor'themar Theron, the Regent Lord of Quel'Thalas, is the master of the Blood Elves. Each leader can be found in their respective capital cities.

The Horde vs the Alliance

In the MMORPG World of Warcraft, interaction between subscribers who play as the Horde or Alliance differs depending on the server. On normal or PvE servers, the players can slay one another in the battlegrounds or if they enable player vs player mode. On PvP servers, Horde and Alliance players can kill each other in any contested zone as well as in battlegrounds.

Horde Allies

The Horde is also known to have several allies. The Revantusk trolls, remembering their old alliance with the former horde, rejoined them as well as well as some ogre tribes, centaur tribes, Moknathal, Half-orcs, several goblins, Magthar and recently several Tuskar fishermen villages.
