HOWARDSCOTT, a farmer living in section 24, township 31, range 18, in Osage township, Labette county, Kansas, has been one of the prominent citizens of the county for many years.
William Scott was born in Williams county, Ohio, in 1844, and is a farmer by occupation.
HowardScott remained at home, - assisting his father on the farm, - until he was twenty-one years old.
What Scott discovered was, that during the geological history of the continent, particularly in the aftermath of the glaciation of the Pleistocene period, water run-off cut glacial troughs between most of the drainage basins of the major rivers.
Scott estimated that existing buildings were so wasteful of energy, that the entire cost of tearing them down and reconstructing them all to adequate efficiency standards, would be recovered in just twenty years of operations.
