National Hsinchu Senior High School is an high school in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. Student enrollment averages around 2200. Along with the National Hsinchu First Girls' High School, the school is considered the top-ranked secondary school in the Hsinchu-Miaoli region. History

Hsinchu Senior High School, orginally Called HsinChu County Hsinchu High School (新竹州立新竹中學校, was founded on April 1, 1922. When Taiwan was restored to the Republic of China in 1945, the school was renamed Taiwan Provincial Hsinchu High School (臺灣省立新竹中學). In July, 1968, after compulsory education was extended to nine years, the school was renamed Taiwan Provincial Hsinchu Senior High School (臺灣省立新竹高級中學), and on February 1, 2000, renamed National Hsinchu Senior High School (國立新竹高級中學). 1922 (MCMXXII) was a common year starting on Sunday (see link for calendar). ... After the restoration in 1945, HCHS was a six-year high school, with a 3year Junior and a 3 year Senior High division. However, the junior high division was suspended in 1957. In 1987, HCHS was directed to set up a math/science-gifted class, later in 1998 a music-gifted class and in 2004 a language-gifted class.

Senior high school spans grades 10 through 12, again the main goal of students is to score highly on the national university entrance exams at the end of their third year.
Discipline in educational institutions from high school and up (including vocational schools) are the responsibility of military officers stationed at the individual schools (as opposed to elementary and junior high school where teachers and school administrators were responsible for discipline).

With a Fujianese ancestry (specifically, Rongqiao Village (榕橋村), Nan'an County (南安縣), Quanzhou[?] City), Lee was born in Hsinchu City in northern Taiwan to Li Tze-fan (李澤藩 Lǐ Zéfán), who was an accomplished Hsinchu-born artist; and Ts'ai P'ei (蔡配 Cài Péi), who was an elementary school teacher from Wuchi Township (梧棲鎮), Taichung County[?].
Lee was in the baseball and ping-pong teams of Hsinchu Elementary School (新竹國小), he then studied in Hsinchu Senior High School (竹中), where he played tennis and trombone.
His higher education were in National Taiwan University (without the entrance examination[?] due to achievements at high school) (1959), and master studies at National Tsing Hua University (1961), and doctoral at the the University of California, Berkeley, USA (1962).
