Huai'an (Chinese: 淮安; pinyin: Huái'ān) is a city in northern Jiangsu, China.
Huai'an was known as Huaiyin before 2001 and at the moment operated the county-level Huai'an City which now is the Chuzhou District.
Soon the district was joined by Huai'an County from District of Yancheng and in December by Sihong County from District of Suxian and Xuyi County from Disctrict of Chuxian in Anhui Province.
With Yancheng City to its south, Anhui Province to its west and its southwest, Lianyungang City, Xuzhou City and the newly established Suqian City to its north, Huai'an is reputed as the No.1 City of Southeast China.
Huai'an lies to the west of the ancient Huaihe River.
Huai'an was proclaimed a national historical and cultural city by the State Council in 1986.
