Hutsuls or Huculs (Ukrainian: Гуцули, singular Гуцул) are a group of Ukrainian highlanders, considered a subgroup of Rusyns by some references. Alternative spellings are Hutzuls, Gutsuls, Gutzuls, Guculs.

For centuries, the Hucul was used as a pack pony and was renowned for carrying heavy loads over difficult mountain paths often covered in snow and ice.
Since 1979, Hucul belongs to protected gene fund of original and primitive animal breeds of FAO.
