He married Bertrade Montfort L'Amauri (1155-12 July 1189), daughter of Simon De Montfort and Agnes Evereux. Hugh and Bertrade had the following children: Maud de Meschines (1163- 6 Jan 1233) married David, Earl of Huntingdon; Amicia de Meschines (b. 1167) married Ralph de Mainwaring; Mabel de Meschines (b. 1173) married William D'Aubigny; Agnes de Meschines (1174- 2 Nov. 1247) married William de Ferrers; Nichola de Meschines (b. 1182); Hawise de Meschines (1180-1243) married Robert de Quincy; and Ranulph de Meschines, Earl of Chester (1172-28 Oct 1232) who married first, Constance, Countess of Bretagne, and second, Clemence de Fougeres.
Hugh of Kevelioc de Meschines was born in 1147 in Kevelioc, Merionethshire, Wales.
Hugh married Bertred of Evereux, daughter of Simon, Earl of Evereux, in Normandy.
Hugh de Albany, Earl of Arundel, son of Mabel and William, inherited from his late uncle, Ranulph, Coventry, as his chief seat, with the manors of Campden, in Gloucestershire; Diney, in Buckinghamshire; and Leeds, in Yorkshire.
Hugh de Kevelioc, 3rd Earl of Chester was born in 1147, the son of Ranulph de Gernon, 2nd Earl of Chester and Maud of Gloucester, daughter of Robert, 1st Earl of Gloucester.
He is thought by some to have taken his name from Kevelioc in Monmouth as his birthplace, but others think that instead he was born in and took the name of Cyfeiliog in Mereonithshire or Meirionydd.
Hugh of Kevelioc died 30 June 1181 at Leeke, Staffordshire, England.
