Humansville is a city located in Polk County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 946.

Humansville is located at 37°47'44" North, 93°34'42" West (37.795645, -93.578354)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.1 km˛ (1.2 mi˛). 3.1 km˛ (1.2 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 946 people, 389 households, and 219 families residing in the city. The population density is 306.9/km˛ (794.0/mi˛). There are 465 housing units at an average density of 150.9/km˛ (390.3/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 98.20% White, 0.42% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. 0.63% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 389 households out of which 24.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.4% are married couples living together, 11.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.7% are non-families. 39.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.15 and the average family size is 2.89.


In the city the population is spread out with 21.2% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 28.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 86.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 78.7 males.


The median income for a household in the city is $19,821, and the median income for a family is $29,018. Males have a median income of $21,181 versus $14,423 for females. The per capita income for the city is $11,051. 18.7% of the population and 11.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 16.0% of those under the age of 18 and 22.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
