Humboldt County is a county located in the state of Iowa. As of 2000, the population is 10,381. Its county seat is Dakota City, Iowa6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,129 km˛ (436 mi˛). 1,125 km˛ (434 mi˛) of it is land and 3 km˛ (1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.30% water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 10,381 people, 4,295 households, and 2,881 families residing in the county. The population density is 9/km˛ (24/mi˛). There are 4,645 housing units at an average density of 4/km˛ (11/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 98.63% White, 0.11% Black or African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. 0.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,295 households out of which 29.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.40% are married couples living together, 6.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.90% are non-families. 29.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.94.
