If your first choice is one of these very competitive public programs, you may want to apply to a private school or two as a backup.
But if getting what your child needs from his or her public school is turning into a running battle, you may want to put your child into an appropriate private school and save your energy for other issues.
I just think it's so important for adoptive parents to really do some soul searching and ask themselves if they want to be the ones to tell their child that they were chosen or if they want them to find out from someone else.
