Carly Shay -
Main article: Carly Shay Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove) is the 13-year old girl who created a web show (iCarly) which quickly makes her, Sam and Freddie online celebrities. She works with her best friends, Sam and Freddie, whom she describes as "kind and friendly". In the pilot episode "iPilot", it is said her father is in the Navy (in a submarine 3 miles underwater), leaving her 26-year old brother Spencer, who is also her legal guardian, in charge of her (the status of her mother is unknown). Carly frequently drinks decaffeinated coffee (Spencer switches it when she's not looking) and she has asthma, although Carly has not had an asthma attack since she was 7. Carly and Sam have been friends for 5 years (they became friends when Sam pushed Carly and stole her sandwich and Carly pushed her back and took her food back). Carly enjoys getting smoothies at the Groovy Smoothie. Carly is constantly trying to stop her best friends Sam and Freddie from arguing. Carly has numerous enemies, including Ms. Francine Briggs, Nevel Papperman, Mr. Howard and many more. This article is about a fictional character. ...

Samantha "Sam" Puckett -
Main article: Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) Her real first name is Samantha, but her friends call her Sam for short. Sam is best friends with Carly and Freddie but often torments Freddie for her own fun. Sam is Carly's co-host on iCarly. In one episode, it is revealed she hates work of any kind. She is also known to have read only 3 books her entire life: Boogie Bear, Boogie Bear 2, and Boogie Bear 3: The Return of Boogie Bear. She presumably reads her fourth, Penny Treasure, in the episode, iFence. She has a picture of music stars, most notably Drake Bell, in her locker. She also likes Tom Higgenson of the Plain White T's, as revealed in one episode. She likes ham, beef jerky, pork chops, bacon, barbecue ribs, and bacon flavored bubble gum. Sam is extremely aggressive, obnoxious, and rebellious. Sam has a tendency to commit theft and break-ins (she can expertly pick a lock and takes people's food on several occasions) in addition to editing school records (in the episode iPromise Not to Tell) . Sam spends most of her time at Carly's house, and makes herself at home there in order to avoid her mother, who is an extremely poor caregiver. It is revealed that Sam was born in a bus.In the episode "iScream on Halloween", it is revealed that her mom cooks her dinner only twice a year. Sam is almost always in detention, and it is revealed in iStakeout that around half of her family members are what she says is "dangerous". Sam and Carly became friends over a tuna sandwich. In third grade, Sam asked Carly if she could have her sandwich. Carly responded, "No way! Get your own!" Sam pushed her down and got the sandwich but Carly rebounded by pushing her back and retrieving her sandwich. Sam smiled, sat down, and said, "You're all right." After hearing this story, Freddie said lovingly, "Wow. Even back then you were obnoxious and aggressive." Carly and Sam's friendship anniversary is on "the twenty-fifth" though the month is never revealed. In iCarly Saves TV, a dinosaur named "Zeebo" joins the show and often bumps his co-hosts. Sam, annoyed, asks the microphone to be lowered, and when it is, she grabs it and starts beating him up. Samantha Sam Puckett is a fictional character from the popular childrens show, iCarly. ...

Fredward "Freddie" Benson -
Main article: Freddie Benson Freddie Benson (played by Nathan Kress) is Carly's other best friend. He and Carly's other friend, Sam, fight constantly and portray a love/hate relationship. He is the tech producer of iCarly, and also Carly's across-the-hall neighbor. Freddie has a crush on Carly, and is something of a pushover because of it (though he does have his limits), he will do virtually anything for Carly including making her crush sing better on iCarly (as seen on iLike Jake). Freddie is a tech-whiz who can do almost anything with a computer. His mother is extremely precautionary and paranoid, and forces Freddie to do outrageous sanitary tasks, including signing a contract saying that he shampooed twice after every shower, and rubbing anti-tick and 'cloudblock' lotion on him. He is also forced to take a tick bath once every other week. In iStakeout, his mom called him Fredward. In iFence, it is revealed that Freddie is an amazing fencer and fencing runs in Freddie's family history. Also revealed in iFence is the fact that Freddie's last name of Benson is his mother's surname instead of his father's. There may have been an unintentional "goof" when writing this episode as she is referred to as Mrs. Benson, indicating that this is in fact her married name and not her maiden name. It is unknown about his father's status. For football player, see Fred Benson. ...

Spencer Shay -
Main article: Spencer Shay Spencer Shay (played by Jerry Trainor) is Carly's 26-year-old brother and legal guardian. His guardianship is put to the ultimate test when the Shays' grandfather visits them and insists that Carly live with him in Yakima, ninety minutes away. This sentiment stems from Spencer's fondness for sculpting going awry, when his sculpture "fan of hammers", malfunctions and a component hammer narrowly misses Carly. Spencer comes through, however, by insisting that Carly be equipped with asthma medication though, as has been shown above, she has not required its use in several years. It is revealed in the episode iWanna Stay With Spencer that he dropped out of law school to become an artist, and is usually seen working on a new sculpture. He stated that he stayed in law school for 3 days, as shown in iGot A Sponsor. He is kind, goofy and caring, and his nickname is Spence. He is also single, as he is seen dating or hitting on women in various episodes. He also spends much of his time at the local junkyard, gathering supplies for sculptures. He has many glowing, colorful, and bright socks, provided by his friend Socko, and a glowing, colorful, and bright tie, provided by Socko's brother, Tyler (the joke being that Socko sounds like "sock" and Tyler sounds like "tie") Spencer Shay is a fictional character from the popular television show, iCarly. ...

Recurring characters Ms. Francine Briggs Ms. Francine Briggs is a mean teacher at Carly's school whom she and her friends like to make fun of. She also taught at the school when Spencer was a student. She has a crush on Randy Jackson and has lots of pictures of him in her closet and a talking cardboard cut-out of him, plus assorted Randy Jackson-related merchandise. Examples of it are Randy-Yo's (a cereal, parody of Cheerios), and Randy Jackson cologne. Francine is fond of exercising, as seen in iSpy a Mean Teacher, in her spare time. Ms. Briggs enjoys playing the bagpipes though it often tortures her students. In iDream of Dance her student Sam has a dream of being in detention. Ms. Briggs starts playing the bagpipes and Sam moaned, "This is torture!" In the same dream, when announced that Ms. Briggs was playing the bagpipes, Sam replied, "Why not just shove scissors in our ears?" Francine was portrayed by Mindy Sterling. Mrs. Benson Mrs. Benson is Freddie's extremely overprotective mother. She often embarrasses Freddie in front of his friends, is nosy, and is prone to loud outbursts. She also appears to be highly paranoid about almost everything and limits Freddie's activities accordingly. In the episode iStakeout, she made Freddie take swimming lessons in a Speedo. She also broke into Freddie's school to put "cloud block" on him so he won't get "cloudburn". It was revealed in iRue the Day that Mrs. Benson doesn't give Freddie much allowance ($8 a month) because she's afraid that he will buy a bus ticket and leave her (which sparks iCarly fans' curiosity on whether he's currently saving up for that ticket). Mrs. Benson despises Spencer and always keeps an eye on him because she is afraid that he will put her son in danger. She also gets angry with Carly because she doesn't know why she doesn't return Freddie's feelings. She also proves in iFence that she is a very skilled fencer because her father made her take lessons as a child. Mrs. Benson is portrayed by Mary Scheer. She is also prone to humiliate her son in front of Carly or Sam; such examples include making him wear a bad outfit for his first date and insisting (to the point of driving him to lock her out of Carly's apartment) on doing his hair for his first date. She also mentions in front of Sam that she regularly rubs anti-tick lotion on Freddie despite his insistence that he doesn't have ticks.-1...

Gibby Gibby is a kid at Carly's school, whom Sam constantly insults, blames for her actions, bothers, and apparently expels him when Sam tampered with the school computer system (iPromise Not to Tell). Behind Freddie, he's Sam's second-favorite target for insulting. He likes spelling bees and Ryan Seacrest and was given a Texas wedgie twice. He is also seen in various episodes. He first appeared in iDream of Dance and has been seen in other episodes. For some reason, he appears without his shirt on in "iMight Switch Schools", when he plays mini golf in the Shay apartment. As seen in iDream of Dance, Gibby runs into Sam's nightmare in his boxers. He's also the one that Sam finds an easy target. Minor characters - Jeremy: Jeremy is a sickly kid at Carly's school. He has been constantly sneezing and coughing since first grade; Sam, Freddie, and Carly refer to him as "Germy" because of this. He is fascinated with technology, once attending a technological convention. Jeremy is portrayed by Nathan Pearson. When Freddie left iCarly Jeremy turned into iCarly's tech producer but continuously sneezed during production.
- Lewbert the Doorman: Lewbert is the doorman of Carly and Freddie's apartment complex, who is notorious for being "the meanest doorman on Earth". He has a large wart on his left cheek which Carly and Sam name "Little Lewbert." He tends to get irritated when too many people are in his lobby (especially after he's just mopped). He is a victim (without knowing) in the iCarly segment "Messin' with Lewbert." Lewbert is a "self-proclaimed jerk", frequently misinforming the residents of the complex and starting loud, obnoxious arguments. As seen on the iCarly website, Lewbert was once a malemodel.
- Nevel Papperman (Reed Alexander): Nevel is an 11-year-old web critic, whose Web site, Nevelocity.com (which, unlike iCarly, is not a real Web site), receives five million pageviews per day. Typing "nevelocity.com" as a website address redirects to iCarly.com. He has had a crush on Carly since he first met her, and harbors a major grudge when she reveals that she does not feel the same way about him.She shoved tapenade on his face. He has since attempted to exert revenge upon the iCarly crew ranging from a dishonest review to breaking into the webcast with a virus which would ruin the Plain White T's performance. However, thanks to the assistance of Carly's father's friend Colonel Morgan (Christopher B. Duncan), Nevel's plot was foiled. He is first seen in iNevel, and so far last seen in iRue the Day.
- Principal Tedward Franklin (Tim Russ): Ted Franklin is the principal of Carly's school. He is very fond of Carly and Freddie. He has also gotten used to seeing Sam in his office and gives her detention on a regular basis (despite this, the two seem to be on good terms). Ted has kids who are iCarly fans and he is an iCarly fan himself.
- Wesley (Colin Spensor): Wesley is a short schoolmate. He is shown all the time with a microphone, constantly beat-boxing, something he is not very good at and "no one enjoys", as Carly says. He is also a fan of iCarly. He appears multiple times during the series. The only time he actually spoke was in iGot Detention when he said "check" to Freddie when he was ready to distract Mr. Howard.
- "Rip Off" Rodney (Christopher David): Rodney is a kid at Carly's school that is known for 3 things. 1) selling things, 2) ripping off people, and 3) getting detention on a regular basis like Sam. He once sold fake hall passes, and got caught by misspelling hall (with one l). He once sold a box of peacock feather tissues for $20, and was to have sold Cuddlefish concert tickets for $100 each. However, it is revealed in the episode "i Don't Wanna Fight" that he trades them for an iCarly T shirt designed over a two-week period in honor of the five-year friendship anniversary of Carly and Sam discussed above. He also sold burritos that didn't contain "quality meats" for 2 for $6 during iCarly's 50th Webcast Spectacular in detention. Despite his high prices, his customers still pay the prices if it's an emergency. He was first seen in iDon't Want to Fight, then again on iGot Detention. He goes to jail a lot. Also He Likes to be called "Rip Off"
- "Tareen": Tareen is a girl at school which is very hyperactive and speaks very fast, and sometimes too fast to understand. She appeared once on iSpy A Mean Teacher and again on iDon't Wanna Fight. She is also a fan of the fictional band Cuddlefish as evidenced in the episode just cited, in which she attends a concert of theirs using a ticket bartered for with the t-shirt mentioned previously.
