Ian Gillan Band - Pandora Internet Radio (791 words)
Ian Gillan was one of the foremost vocalists of the heavy metal style of rock that emerged in the 1970s, earning his greatest renown as a member of Deep Purple, though he also led bands named after himself.
Another member of the latter band was bass player Roger Glover, and the two were invited to join Deep Purple in 1969, debuting with the band at the Speakeasy club in London on July 10.
Gillan's next solo album, Naked Thunder, was briefly in the British charts in July 1990.
Ray Fenwick: News: In Japan with the Ian Gillan Band (635 words)
Ian Gillan recollected in his autobiography "The gig at Yubin Chokin Hall went brilliantly and brought back memories of the visit I made with Deep Purple, which simply did not compare." This is the gig that is captured on the Angel Air release, "Live Yukin Chokin Hall, Hiroshima 1977".
Ian Gillan became dissatisfied with the final mixes of the album and this delayed its eventual release in April 1977.
The Ian Gillan Band were on the road for much of May 1977 promoting the album (their Rainbow gig on the tour has already surfaced on Angel Air).
