Ian Hudghton was first elected to the European Parliament as the Member for North East Scotland following a spectacular by-election victory in November 1998.
Ian, from Forfar, was first elected as a member of Angus District Council in 1986, serving for eight years as Housing Convener.
Ian was re-elected to the European Parliament in June 1999 and now sits as one of the two SNP Members for Scotland, along with the country’s other six MEPs.
