Iasi is the most important economic, political and cultural centre of Moldova region and one of the oldest cities in Romania.
The Iasi county territory is limited to the West by the river Moldova in the nearness of the Oriental Carpathians mountains and to the East by the river Prut, which is at the same time, the official border with the Republic of Moldova.
