Ichi(お市)(1547-1583) was the younger sister of Oda Nobunaga. Well-known for her beauty while still a young woman in Owari (near present day Nagoya). She married the 20 year old Azai Nagamasa, who was known as the Eagle of Kouhoku. Thus began an alliance between Nobunaga and Azai. Later, Ichi informed her brother when Azai showed signs of rebelling against him. In doing so, she saved her brother from crisis. Angered by Azai's betrayal, Nobunaga attacked the Azai family stronghold at Odani Castle. In the end, Ichi refused to leave her husband's side until the castle fell. Azai eventually died and Ichi returned to her family's side. Ichi married Shibata Katsuie in 1574 and followed him to his death at Siege of Kitanosho in 1583. Ichi was depicted by the actress Tanaka Misato in the 2002 NHK historical Drama "Toshiie to Matsu" (利家とまつ).
